Peter’s passion is finding innovative solutions to interesting problems. Results-driven and bottom line oriented, Peter is what we call a “creative strategist.” Peter specializes in generational issues with an HR and management focus. Peter regularly speaks to groups on a local and regional level regarding the challenges organizations face with their inter-generational workforces. He has an unparalleled understanding of Generation Y.
Peter attended Emory University in Atlanta where he studied Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies, wrote for the Emory Political Review, and was a National Merit Scholar. He was appointed to the Complete Communities Board by the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners, and has remained active in civic involvement. Peter started his first company in Atlanta, and has experience in the entrepreneurial “trenches” with marketing, import/export, and an internet start up. Peter is actively involved in the community through various organizations including Rotary, RYLA, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Boy Scouts of America.
Genevieve has keen insights on the characteristics of the Gen Y’ers at work, having managing them and been managed herself. Her range of experience and expertise ranges from grassroots start-ups, to large corporations; business development to finance. Genevieve also has in-depth background knowledge of public relations, marketing, customer service, and leadership development. A “Type A” strategist and planner, she takes an analytical approach to understanding Gen Y in the workplace, and infuses forward-thinking innovation into her solutions.
She graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, and is in the Executive MBA program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
Genevieve is an active Rotarian, and lends her time to various causes and initiatives.
Rick Howell has spent over twenty-three years as an HR professional. His human resource experience is in the hospitality, forest products, and education industries. At various points in his career he has specialized in training and development, employee relations, compensation, safety and workers compensation, with titles ranging from Coordinator to Vice President.
A frequent speaker at human resource conferences, Mr. Howell has also been an adjunct faculty for Washington State University, Portland State University, and/or City University for the past twenty-two years. Rick started the WSU Vancouver HR Student Chapter. He holds BA and MBA degrees from Washington State University and holds certifications of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). He was among the first in the nation to earn the Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certification in 2004.
He has served in various positions with the 1000+ member PHRMA (Portland Human Resource Management Association) organization, including President in 2003. He served as the Director of the Oregon State Council in 2007. In 2006, he received NHRMA’s Distinguished Member award. Rick served as the Pacific West Region’s Member Advisory Council (MAC) representative for 2008 and 2009, and is currently NHRMA’s President elect.
Mr. Howell resides in Vancouver, Washington with his wife, Lesa, and two children, Bryce and Nicole. He enjoys swimming, scuba diving, flying, gardening, skydiving, poker, music, art, and architecture.
Larry Hellie has more than 40 years of experience in human resource management and consulting. He was the Western Regional HR Director at Elf Atochem and Vice President of Finance and Administration at Convoy Company. Larry’s specialties include compensation and benefits, and employee relations, safety and security, worker’s compensation, workplace violence, investigations for harassment, fraud and theft, labor relations, union avoidance and operations and finance.
Larry is a frequent speaker, and a past president of the Portland Human Resources Management Association (PHRMA) he and has been active in SHRM, NHRMA, WaW, CWCG, IRRA, NWEEO and substance abuse coalitions such as the Regional Drug Initiative and Oregon Meth Watch. Larry is a professor at Central Washington University, he holds an MBA in Industrial Relations from Washington State University and was named a NHRMA Distinguished Member.
Mia Isaacson is a marketing, Public Relations and event management guru. She is a senior at Oregon State University majoring in Marketing, and pursuing minors in Communications and Spanish. After completing her degree, she plans to pursue a public relations career in Portland, Oregon.
Mia is the past President, and current Professional Chair of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional, co-ed business Fraternity on campus. She is also the Director of Public Relations for OSU SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise).
Mia is looking forward to watching and learning from Genevieve and Peter, and using her opportunity with Gen Cubed to expand her outlook and practice with social media, public relations, and event management as well as further develop her portfolio.
When Mia is not working she enjoys reading, watching movies and traveling.
